Liposomal Mineral Absorption: Iron

In a randomized crossover trial, 25 healthy participants ingested either a liposomal multivitamin/mineral or a non-liposomal multivitamin/mineral product. Blood analyses for iron and magnesium were conducted at baseline and every two hours for six hours. Iron levels were significantly increased in the liposomal multi compared with the non-liposomal. Magnesium levels were not significantly different (possible due to the low amount of magnesium in each product). The researchers’ conclusion was that iron absorption from the liposomal multi is significantly enhanced by the liposomal delivery technology.

A Green Tea Study

Origine 8™

A single centre, non-randomised, blind crossover study involving 26 participants . The purpose of the study was to assess the bio-availability of the green tea extract used in the production of Origine 8™ compared to a standard commercially available extract of green tea commonly found in green tea supplements.

Participants consumed 200mg twice per day of a standard green tea extract followed by a 14 day washout period and thereafter 200mg twice per day dose of the extract found in Origine 8™ was consumed. Blood samples were drawn over a 24 hour period post consumption to measure levels of catechin concentrations in the blood.

A Pilot Study

Glutathione

A clinical study was undertaken to assess the effect of liposomal glutathione on blood levels and detoxification processes. Seven individuals took a standard glutathione powder, then after a one-week washout took a liposomal glutathione liquid (CELLg8®). Peak blood glutathione was compared, with the liposomal preparation resulting in 20-times higher blood levels on average. In another small, open-label study, four healthy individuals took 750 mg of liposomal glutathione liquid (CELLg8®) twice daily for 30 days. Improved detoxification and liver function was demonstrated by decreased bilirubin and 39% decreased mercury.

Vitamin B12 Study

A single-dose, crossover study was conducted in six human subjects of equivalent doses of two dosage forms of vitamin B12 – a standard liposomal liquid and a liposomal powder-filled capsule (using CELLg8® technology). Each subject was given 3 mg of CELLb12® in one dosage form, followed by a washout period of 14 days, then dosing with the other dosage form.

All subjects (with one exception) had an increase above baseline at one or more time points over 135 minutes. Serum B12 increased six-fold on average after taking the CELLb12® liposomal capsule compared to the traditional liposomal liquid when comparing the highest peak of each subject’s serum B12.

Vitamin C Study

When comparing a “normal” Vitamin C ingestion (dose of 4g) to a Liposomal Vitamin C (also 4g), it’s evident that our CELLg8® Liposomal Delivery System provides much greater circulating Vitamin C concentrations. With increased efficacy, oxidative stress was reduced even during the increased oxidative stress of reperfusion, resulting in meaningful Vitamin C concentration. As CELLg8® has entered the 8th and final generation, our Liposomal Vitamin C had a peak particle size of 8nm, with 92% of the particles being between 60 and 172nm. This tight distribution is indicative of the reproducible and highly controlled manufacturing methodology of CELLg8® Liposomes.

Mobility Study

Canine Mobility

Here, we evaluated CBD for its ability to modulate the production of proinflammatory cytokines in vitro and in murine models of induced inflammation and further validated the ability of a liposomal formulation to increase bioavailability in mice and in humans. Subsequently, the therapeutic potential of both naked and liposomal encapsulated CBD was explored in a 4-week, randomized placebo-controlled, double-blinded study in a spontaneous canine model of OA. Liposomal CBD (20 mg/day) was as effective as the highest dose of non-liposomal CBD (50 mg/day) in improving clinical outcomes. Hematocrit, comprehensive metabolic profile, and clinical chemistry indicated no significant detrimental impact of CBD administration over the 4-week analysis period. This study supports the safety and therapeutic potential of hemp-derived CBD for relieving arthritic pain and suggests follow-up investigations in humans are warranted.

Ketones Study

Change in Blood Ketones After Single-Dose Supplementation with Liposomal Ketone Formulation

Protocol: Participants ingested a one-time 5-gram dose of a 50:50 liposomal preparation of ketone monoester/1,3-butanediol.

Laboratory Analyses: Baseline blood ketone measurement using a ketone meter (KetoCoach meter), then measurements at 15 minutes post-ingestion, 30 minutes post-ingestion, 60 minutes post-ingestion, and a final measurement at 120 minutes.

Results: Fifteen minutes after ingesting the liposomal ketone product, all participants had an increase in blood ketones, ranging from 120% to 250% of the baseline level (avg 174%). At 30 minutes post-ingestion, participants’ blood ketones increased from baseline an average of 214%. At 60 minutes, a 66% increase over baseline was seen, and at 120 minutes a 43% increase over baseline was seen. Participants also noted increased mental clarity and acuity.

Conclusions: Liposomal ketones are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, shown by the average level of 174% over baseline at 15 minutes. This continued at 30 minutes when the greatest increase over baseline was seen – an average level of 214%. Blood ketones stayed at levels above baseline at 60 and 120 minutes. This study shows that ingestion of a liposomal ketone product significantly increases blood ketones starting at 15 minutes and continuing for over two hours. With the peak in blood ketones at 30 minutes, it is advisable to ingest this product 15-30 minutes prior to a workout, to maximize energy and workout strength. Exogenous ketones can serve as an alternate energy source that reduces carbohydrate and protein metabolism, while also decreasing fat storage. Ketogenic diets are commonly used to enhance weight loss, mental clarity, exercise performance, and recovery; however, they are cumbersome and difficult for many people to continue long-term due to dietary constraints. Exogenous ketones offer a method of increasing blood ketones quickly without dietary restrictions and may offer a less complicated approach to obtaining the health benefits of ketosis.

Vitamin D Study

The Effect of a Liposomal Cholecalciferol Preparation on 25(OH) Vitamin D Levels – A comparative, open-label study

Fifteen healthy participants underwent baseline 25(OH) Vitamin D testing, followed by supplementation with a liposomal product containing 125 mcg (5,000 IU) vitamin D and 400 mcg vitamin K (as MK7) daily for 30 days.  Participants in this study had an average increase in serum 25(OH) Vitamin D of 73% over baseline. (Fig 1) For comparison, the average increase in 25(OH) Vitamin D with supplementation of a non-liposomal preparation for 30 days at this dosage is 16%.

Individuals who began the study with a 25(OH) Vitamin D level in the “insufficient” range (below 30 ng/mL) had an even greater response, averaging a 112% increase. (Fig 2)

Conclusion: Supplementation with a liposomal vitamin D product for 30 days resulted in a much greater increase in serum 25(OH) Vitamin D than typical results after supplementation with a non-liposomal preparation (avg 73% vs 16%), proving the superior absorption of liposomal Vitamin D.

Curcumin Study

Abstract

Three different doses of Liposomal Curcumin were given orally to subjects after metabolic onset. The efficacy of two high doses(0.5mg and 1mg) is obviously better than the 0.25mg dose.

    1. Other studies treat subjects as a group despite not all having metabolic slowdown
    2. We consider subjects individually (only subjects with metabolic slowdown were included)
  • Our goal is to make sure the efficacy could be clinically translational

Conclusion

  • Liposomal Curcumin was shown to rebound metabolic function in subjects.

Hemp Safety Study

A human clinical safety study examined the alterations in the blood profiles of 10 healthy adults before and after taking CELLg8™ Hemp—an advanced liposomal cannabinoid preparation standardized for cannabidiol—daily for 30 days. Primary outcome measures were the comprehensive metabolic panel and complete blood count. Results showed that of 340 blood tests administered, 339 improved or remained the same at day 30. One patient showed an increase in absolute eosinophil or neutrophil count from 319 to 573 cells/µL (normal range, 15-500 cells/µL). Furthermore, all 5 individuals who had high glucose levels at baseline showed normal levels on day 30 of liposomal cannabidiol treatment. In conclusion, this study demonstrated the safety of CELLg8™ Hemp and the potential efficacy of this preparation to lower fasting blood glucose levels.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to measure the bioavailability of equivalent amounts of cannabidiol (CBD, 10 mg) as a stand-alone active ingredient compared with a liposomal preparation (CELLg8® Hemp).

METHODS: This pharmacokinetic pilot study included 15 healthy patients who were not taking a CBD product at baseline. A crossover study design was used to analyze peak blood CBD levels at baseline and 1 hour after ingesting the liposomal and nonliposomal preparations, with a 2-week washout period between each preparation.

RESULTS: CBD was detected in the blood of all 15 patients who ingested the liposomal preparation at 1 hour, whereas the stand-alone ingredient was only found in 40% of the individuals at the same time point. Serum levels of CBD were significantly higher (P<0.0001) in patients after use of the liposomal preparation compared with the stand-alone CBD.

CONCLUSION: The findings suggest that the bioavailability of oral CBD is higher in the liposomal preparation than the nonliposomal CBD preparation.
